NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION

ALL new members will have to attend an Orientation Course taught by club instructors who are NRA certified. The cost of the course is included in the initiation fee. It includes the NRA FIRST Steps program with live fire, and results in an NRA certificate. This proves that you understand safe handling of firearms and can thus come on to the new range any day it is open between sunup and sundown even if no Range Safety Officers are present.

At the beginning of the orientation class you will fill out the membership form, pay your initiation fee and yearly dues, and have your photo taken for your photo ID. The initiation fee is $100. The yearly dues are $150 unless you are 65 or older when you join. If you are 65 or older, you qualify for the senior yearly membership rate of $100. The dues plus the one time $100 initiation fee are to be paid in full at the Orientation. We take cash, check or money order; we do not take credit cards.

The membership period runs from January 1 through December 31. The first year that you join, your dues will be pro-rated based upon the number of months remaining in the year.

The orientations are held at the new recreational shooting facility and normally begin at 8:30 am, lasting approximately five hours. Since live fire is included, there will be one supervising person per two attendees. That limits the class size to 24 attendees. Because of this limited class size it is important that everyone who reserves a slot in a class shows up.

As long as you are a U.S. citizen, can legally own a firearm under local, State and Federal laws, and affirm that you do not belong to any organization advocating the violent overthrow of the government, you will be accepted for membership. If you are not a U.S. citizen it will require a vote of the Board (done on a case-by-case basis) to accept you as a member.

The General Rifle range (2 positions at 25-yards, 45 positions at 100-yards, 5 positions at 200-yards and 5 positions at 300-yards) and General Shotgun range (General Shotgun range: 2 positions single throwers and Sporting Clay course) are immediately available to new members when they have completed their orientation. The General Pistol range (Known Distance range for 10, 25 and 50 yards and the close in Handgun range, and Action Pistol Bay range for scenario shooting) are also open. 1,000 Yard range is currently open to club members who have demonstrated the ability to shoot this extreme distance safely by providing documentation from acceptable qualifying source, (i.e. Palma, CMP, NRA, etc), attending the DNGC sponsored long distance shooting course or by qualifying in a club sponsored shoot.

These ranges are open 7 days a week, sunup to sundown. Currently the entire Shooting Facility is closed to noon every Wednesday for scheduled maintenance, Unscheduled maintenance may necessitate closing any or all ranges on the shooting facility at other times for safety reasons.
